🍳 Sibling by Pushkin’s | 1813 Capitol Ave. | $ | 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
100% all-natural + 100% gluten-free, the Downtown restaurant even boasts a separate menu of vegan-friendly items. What we’re ordering: A goat cheese omelet. You can thank us later.
🍳 Bacon & Butter | 5913 Broadway | $ | Sat. + Sun., 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
While the name alone is enough to entice most hungry patrons, this farm-to-table eatery in Tahoe Park is so good, Michelin described it as “Sunday morning at your mom’s.” Pro tip: Bring a book + be prepared for a wait.
🍳 Rio City Cafe | 1110 Front St. | $$ | Sat. + Sun., 10 a.m.-2:45 p.m.
If you want brunch with a view, Rio City sits right on the waterfront in historic Old Sac so you can not only drink in delicious wine, but also a spectacular vista. What we’re ordering: The prime rib chilaquiles are an absolute life-changer.
🍳 Mimosa House | 5641 J St. | $ | 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
With weekly specials and 50+ varieties of mimosas, no brunch round up of the city would be complete without this East Sac staple. Pro tip: Order a mimosa flight for three flavors at a time.
🍳 Dad’s Kitchen | 8928 Sunset Ave. | $ | Sat. + Sun., 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Brunch means lunch too, right? While the Land Park location may have gained recognition for its appearance on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, the Fair Oaks location serves the same famous lunch along with breakfast.

Here’s a Flashback Friday for you — the Center for Sacramento History shared the movie poster for “Sutter’s Gold,” which premiered at the erstwhile Alhambra Theatre on March 25, 1936.
The film is a fictionalized retelling of the life of John Sutter, who established Sutter’s Fort in 1839 in the area that would later become Sacramento.
The results didn't pan out, however, as the movie was a critical + commercial failure that nearly bankrupted Universal Studios after its release. Ouch.

Editor's pick: My roommate wants me to go see a certain universally-panned movie with him this weekend and I told him the only way I would go is if we went to West Wind (one of California’s 15 remaining drive-in theaters) so that if the movie is bad I can openly critique it without bothering anyone but him. Does this make me a bad person?
